Enhancing Cyber Resilience: GXC’s Commitment to Advanced Private Cellular Security

All businesses have a growing responsibility to protect proprietary data. They are under extraordinary stress to ensure that vital information is appropriately secured. Nowhere is this need more critical than in industries that use data to run automated equipment and processes. Manufacturing, logistics and warehousing, energy production, agriculture, and other businesses that rely on automation are targets for bad actors who can disrupt the flow of data or steal sensitive information altogether. These cyberattacks put businesses, end-users, and other entities at significant risk.

While no networking technology is 100 percent immune to security breaches, in the wireless world, private cellular solutions, such as GXC’s Onyx platform, are inherently better than Wi-Fi. There are two primary reasons for this: private cellular offerings employ carrier-grade end-to-end encryption, mitigating Man-in-the-Middle (MitM) attacks that commonly occur in Wi-Fi deployments. In addition, private cellular networks require eSIM/SIM registration of any device accessing the network. This prevents unauthorized access to data sources or servers from any devices that have not been authenticated, adding more security layers to the network.

These are substantial advantages for private cellular technology, but in all candor, maintaining a secure network is difficult and requires constant effort and investment. Hackers have shown themselves to be smart, patient, and determined. They are constantly exploring new strategies to breach networks, and at GXC, we make it our responsibility to stay one step ahead.

To illustrate our commitment, GXC recently achieved SOC 2 Type 1 compliance after undergoing an intensive audit to ensure our processes and technologies meet or exceed best practice metrics. This certification demonstrates that our company adheres to stringent standards in security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality, and privacy of customer data.

This is just one in a series of security and regulatory compliance-related initiatives that GXC has completed. In addition, the others include:

We will continue to pursue additional security certifications, invest in new capabilities and ensure that our solutions always leverage the most robust security protocols and processes available.

FCC Part 15

Demonstrates GXC’s ability to minimize interference with other wireless communications and maintain low RF levels.

FCC Part 96

Certifies GXC’s Onyx platform meets the stringent requirements for preventing interference while operating in the Citizens Broadband Radio Service Band (CBRS).

TAA Compliance

Onyx Nodes are fully compliant with the Trade Agreements Act (TAA), ensuring GXC’s services are approved for use by the United States Government.

HECVAT

All GXC solutions are compliant with the Higher Education Community Vendor Assessment Toolkit (HECVAT,) demonstrating the company’s ability to satisfy the stringent security standards of higher education.

UL Certifications C1/D1 and IP 67

These certifications demonstrate that GXC Onyx’s power supply, outdoor access points, and nodes perform reliably in certain harsh conditions, including dust ingress or water immersion.

More to Come

In addition to receiving these recent certifications, GXC is in the process of pursuing additional examinations to ensure compliance with other best practices and standards. Among these are:

CSA Star

This underscores GXC’s ability to adhere to strict Cloud Security Alliance (CSA) security practices for protecting sensitive data. This certification should be received in Q3 of 2024.

SOC 2 Type 2

GXC is working to build on its recent SOC 2 Type 1 compliance by demonstrating the  operational effectiveness of the Onyx platform. The certification objectives should be reached by the end of 2024.

ISO 27001

This certifies GXC’s ability to establish, maintain, and continuously improve its Information Security Management System (ISMS). GXC expects to satisfy these objectives by the end of the year.

Keeping your data secure is a core responsibility of all technology vendors, and with the continuing  sophistication and determination of bad actors, the task becomes even more challenging.

Even though private cellular solutions are demonstrably safer than Wi-Fi and other network technologies, GXC recognizes that we, like every technology vendor, must continue to implement emerging procedures and protocols to harden our networks, mitigate cyberattacks, and secure critical data.

We will continue to pursue additional security certifications, invest in new capabilities and ensure that our solutions always leverage the most robust security protocols and processes available.

Keeping a network secure never ends, and our commitment and efforts will never waver.
